A digipak is a six panel piece of artwork that goes inside a CD case and is more often sold with the limited edition CD's. Usually on the digipak are shots of the band, song titles and album titles arranged in a attractive way to get the audience attention.
Digipak Design:
I have adhered to common conventions from other digipaks and have divided 6 panels equally so they each have room for information or a picture on, as well I have left space for the spines of the digipaks. The main theme that is present throughout the digipak theme is the use of a clock, we have used this because it is going to be used in our promo as the main theme too so it helps to develop the brand image and band status.
Also i have adhered to other conventions that involve text, I wanted to have a whole panel on the back to list all the songs on the CD and also carry on the theme. This helps to fill the audience expectations of what they expect their rock bands digipak to be like. Also i thought of having the text style like handwriting, so messy and untidy, to make the audience feel like the rock band have written it out for them. The style further produces ideas like the band have taken the time to write it so they automatically give a good opinion about the band.
Lastly I subverted the convention of having a rating from music companies and newspapers because i think that a rating is misleading and can influence the target audience to dislike a CD without them even listening to it. They audience would look at it and see the low rating and wouldn't consider buying the CD.
